Galway (Irish: Gaillimh,  or City of Galway (Cathair na Gaillimhe) is a city in County Galway, Republic of Ireland. It is the sixth largest city in Ireland.

La ciudad se encuentra en la costa oeste de la isla.Con más de ocho siglos desde su fundación, Galway, en gaélico Gaillimh (de gall y am, "río rocoso"), debe su nombre al lecho de piedras del Corrib, el río que la atraviesa.

In our English class we have prepared some recipes. Here you can have a look to the preparation of David`s special dish, children liked it very much ..David is our Comenius assistant, he arrived to our school last month and soon he will tell us about him and his countries, meanwhile "bon appetit" with his suggestions and the other delicious recipes that our students  of 6th level brought from home.

Celebration of autumn day in our school.

On Friday (November 25th) we celebrated autumn day in our school.

Children brought to school autunm food and in the playground we all tasted the seasonal fruit: nuts chestnuts, walnuts,grapes,pomegranates ..., also an autumn paper tree decorated with leaves and a face was made by our pupils` mums. We enjoyed a lot.

Los más pequeños del cole han disfrutado de la fiesta del otoño, nos han ayudado a prepararla profesores y profesoras de infantil y primer ciclo y algunas mamás de los niños y niñas de infantil. Cada niño ha ayudado a preparar la degustación trayendo un fruto de otoño o fruta de casa. Hemos probado frutos de otoño como las castañas, el membrillo y frutos secos¡Qué rico y qué bien nos lo hemmos pasado!.

Hey,

It's David here and I'm going to write a bit about myself.

I'm 22 years old and I'm from Ireland. I can Speak English, Irish and a little bit of Spanish and French. I have one sister who lives in Italy and both of my parents live in Ireland. They live in a very pretty city called Galway.

I really like sports and watching tv and films. My favourite sport is football but I also like to run, play tennis and rugby. My favourite football team is Manchester United. My favourite movies are animated movies and comedies. I also like to listen to music and one of my favourite bands is "The Beatles".

This is my first time living in Malaga but I have lived in Barcelona, Leon, Granada and Madrid before. I have also lived in California. I really like living in Malaga and I will be here in Malaga until May.

GRADOS DE COMPARACIÓN

GRADOS DE COMPARACIÓN

Si queremos comparar personas o cosas, hablar de sus cualidades o atributos podemos usar adjetivos en sus diversos grados: 

POSITIVO, COMPARATIVO Y SUPERLATIVO

Positivo:se habla de la cualidad en el grado más simple.

Peter is tall- Pedro es alto

Comparativo: señalan un grado mayor, igual o menor entre dos cosas o personas, puede ser de:

Igualdad: expresa el mismo grado entre las cosas o personas que se compara:

Peter is as tall as David- Pedro es tan alto como David.

Superioridad: cuando queremos indicar que algo o alguien es superior a otro.

 Peter is taller than David  (Pedro es más alto que David)

 Inferioridad: indicamos que algo o alguien es inferior a otro

David is less tall than Peter (David es menos alto que Peter)

Superlativo: Cuando usamos el adjetivo indicando su más alto grado.

Peter is the tallest in the class (Pedro es el más alto de la clase).

REMEMBER!

Comparativo de igualdad: as...as (tan..como)

Comparativo de inferioridad: less...than (menos....que)

 

FORMACIÓN DEL ADJETIVO COMPARATIVO Y SUPERLATIVO.

Tenemos que distinguir entre adjetivos cortos y largos.

Entre los cortos:

grupo 1: monosílabos como short, long, high, ...

grupo 2: bisílabos que acaban en -y, -er, -le, -ow: happy, tender, , narrow, ...

grupo 3: bisilabos que se acentúan en la última sílaba: polite 

Entre los largos están los polísilabos y otros bisílabos: beautiful, intelligent.

 

Formamos el comparativo y el superlativo de los adjetivos cortos de la siguiente manera:

• comparativo: añadiendo -er.
• superlativo: añadiendo -est.

      Adjetivo         comparativo      superlativo

tall                   taller            tallest

long                 longer           longest

  short              shorter            shortest

• Formamos el comparativo  de los adjetivos largos de la siguiente manera: poniendo delante del adjetivo la palabra more. 

• Formamos el superlativo de los adjetivos largos de la siguiente manera: poniendo delante del adjetivo la palabra most.

Thanksgiving Day

Thanksgiving Day is a holiday celebrated primarily in the United States and Canada. Thanksgiving is celebrated each year on the second Monday of October in Canada and on the fourth Thursday of November in the United States.

El día de Acción de Gracias (en inglés, Thanksgiving; literalmente dar las gracias) es una celebración tradicional de Estados Unidos y Canadá. En los Estados Unidos se celebra el cuarto jueves del mes de noviembre, aunque originalmente se hacía el último jueves. En Canadá, por su parte, se celebra el segundo lunes de octubre. Generalmente en esta festividad se reúnen en torno a una mesa familiares y amigos a compartir un banquete.

El plato principal tradicional para la cena es un gran pavo horneado o asado. El pavo tradicionalmente se le acompaña con un relleno hecho de pan de maíz y salvia y se  sirve con una jalea o salsa de arándanos rojos.

Además se suelen servir  verduras como las judías verdes, la batata dulce y puré de patata  con gravy, que es una salsa hecha del jugo del pavo; también suele servirse una gran variedad de postres, siendo el pastel de calabaza el más popular. También es común preparar el pastel de nuez pacana y el de manzana.
